Inspiration for Homestyle

I graduated magna cum laude from American University with a B.A. in International Relations. I taught in Frederick and Carroll counties for 15 years.  As a teacher of children, toddler aged through adolescence, I have had a unique vantage point on the dynamics of families and children. I observed that parents often put a great deal of effort into the food they provided for their children and was inspired to see two year old children with quinoa, avocado, berries, hummus, soups and stir fry packed in their lunches. I appreciated the time parents were taking to make nutrition a priority for their kids. Even children with limited tastes could be tempted with freshly made wholesome versions of their favorites.  I have always incorporated food experiences into my lesson plans and introduced my classes to new ingredients, tastes and textures.  I loved watching my toddler class demolish bowls of udon noodles in miso broth with their chopsticks!  I began to think that maybe these same parents would value a service that took food preparation off their to-do list. What if there were delicious healthy meals the whole family could share together, that didn’t have to be prepared after a long day at work? I thought about how much I enjoyed staying home with my children when they were young, cooking for my family every day, and swapping meals with neighbors and friends.  These experiences have been the inspiration for Homestyle.

I would love to share my enjoyment of cooking with you and your family as your personal chef. I look forward to hearing how Homestyle can meet your needs.
